Young pianist offering fun, affordable piano lessons for kids
I’m Lyon Zheng, the pianist and instructor behind NoteForge Piano. I’ve studied piano for several years through private instruction and have performed in recitals and community settings, including retirement-home performances.
My playing experience includes a range of classical repertoire, and I continue working on advanced pieces while developing my technique, musical interpretation, and overall musicianship.
Outside of piano, I also work with younger students through a local chess club, where I help teach beginners and explain new concepts in a clear, step-by-step way. That experience has influenced how I approach piano instruction as well.

Teaching Approach
I believe beginner piano lessons should be structured, patient, and enjoyable.
My goal is to help students build a strong foundation in note reading, rhythm, technique, and basic music theory while also giving them music they can enjoy playing.
Every student learns differently, so I adjust lessons based on the student’s pace, attention level, and confidence. I focus on breaking difficult ideas into smaller steps rather than rushing through material.
For younger beginners, I also try to keep lessons engaging and practical. Progress should feel achievable, and students should leave each lesson understanding what they improved and what they can work on next.
NoteForge is designed for young beginners who are just starting piano and want a supportive introduction to learning the instrument.
